The Bhandup police are on the lookout for two persons who allegedly attacked an on-duty traffic police constable on Saturday.

The constable, Bharat Ghuge, 29, attached to the Bhandup police chowky, was manning traffic at LBS Road in Bhandup around 8.45 pm on Saturday, when the accused hit him on the head from behind. A bleeding Ghuge was rushed to a private hospital where he is recuperating. He is reportedly out of danger.

Senior inspector of Bhandup police Srirang Nadgouda said, “His colleagues, who were present at the spot, said they were too far away to get a clear look at the attackers.”

The police are investigating if it was a personal dispute that led to the fight, or if there was a fight while he was manning the traffic.
