Two brothers drown in pond

Two brothers, both minors, drowned in a pond near Central Park in Kharghar on Tuesday. The deceased, Prashant Gupta (10) and Sashank Gupta (12), were residents of Asmita society of Sector 12 in Kharghar.

The incident occurred at 8:30 am when they had gone to play in the area with their friends.

Senior Police Inspector of Kharghar police station, Dhananjay Solankar, said, “While the other children were playing, the brothers went to the pond. But soon Prashant started drowning. Sashank rushed to help him but he too drowned.”

They were rushed to MGM hospital in Belapur but were declared dead on admission.
