Two heads found at Lokhandwala dump

Around 8pm on Friday, the police control received a call stating that two heads had been found in a dumping ground on the Lokhandwala back road.

Preliminary examination revealed that one skull belonged to a 40 to 45-year-old woman while the other belonged to a 60-year-old man, police said. They were not decomposed and had hair, they added.

The police questioned the driver who had dumped garbage at the spot a few hours before the heads were discovered.

The driver told the police that he had picked up the garbage from Nanavati Hospital, Vile Parle, and that the skulls could be a part of the waste collected from the hospital.

“Prima facie, it does not appear to be a case of murder as the heads appear preserved. They will be sent for post mortem. We have not registered any case as of now,” said an official from the Oshiwara police.

If it is ascertained the heads came from a hospital, an inquiry would be conducted as human body parts are not supposed to be dumped in garbage, the police said.
