An alert staff member at the Korean consulate alerted the police about two persons who were trying to obtain visas using forged documents.

The Gamdevi police arrested Mukesh Chauhan and Prahalad Chauhan on Thursday for submitting forged bank account statements and fake employment records to obtain Korean tourist visas.
“The consulate informed the police when they realised that the documents were forged. The moment Mukesh came to pick up his passport, we arrested him,” said Chimaji Jadhav, sub-inspector, Gamdevi police station.
“Their documents claimed that they were working for a Mumbai-based company. When we cross-checked we found that no such company existed,” said a senior official of the consulate.
The police are also investigating their travel agent, Ravikumar Nirban’s, role in the case. “We are investigating the possibility of the agent running a fake visa racket,” said Anil Kumbhare, deputy commissioner of police, zone II.
