Uddhav was admitted to Lilavati hospital, Bandra at around 9.30 am on Monday, after he complained of chest pain. He was administered drugs and a coronary angiography was conducted on him, after which his condition stabilised. He was discharged at 5.30 pm.

The doctor who treated him, Dr Jalil Parkar, a chest physician, said: “He had chest discomfort for a few days now, for which he underwent routine investigation, coronary angiography.”

Although there is no official comment from the hospital or doctors on his condition, visitors who saw him told the media that the medical results show that Uddhav has three arterial blockages that need to be treated, for which a surgical procedure is to be scheduled.

“Uddhav experienced some uneasiness in the morning and was brought here. He has shown good improvement. An angiography was done,” said senior Sena leader Manohar Joshi outside the hospital on Monday.

There was a flurry of movement at the hospital as hordes of Shiv Sainiks, political leaders, and even Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray along with his wife and mother, rushed to see Uddhav.

According to Sena sources, Uddhav had been facing some difficulty while breathing for about a fortnight. He had even undergone a stress test. However, a slight pain in the shoulder, followed by chest pain, forced him to make a dash to the hospital, which is a 10-minute drive from his residence ‘Matoshree’ at Bandra East.

His wife Rashmi and son Aditya were with him when he was rushed to the hospital. Uddhav was taken to the intensive cardiac care unit (ICCU) on the 6th floor, where he was kept in a special room.

The family is said to have told the doctor that they will consult the Sena chief and take a call.
