The DN Nagar police have registered a case of housebreaking and theft against an unidentified person who reportedly made away with cash and valuables worth Rs 20 lakh from the showroom of fashion designer Harsh Tikmany, 52, a resident of Andheri (West).

According to the police, the incident took place early on Monday morning while the shop, located at JVPD on Gulmohar Road in Juhu, was still closed.
A resident of the building saw the shutter of the shop broken and immediately informed Tikmany, who then called the police.
“We have CCTV cameras inside the showroom. However, we put them off during the night. There was a watchman on duty around 7am on Monday. He had seen the broken shutter, but couldn’t inform me as he didn’t have a mobile phone and he couldn’t leave the spot as was on duty,” said Tikmany.
V Bhoite, senior inspector, DN Nagar police station, said a case of housebreaking and theft had been registered against unknown persons. “We will inquire with the record criminals in the area to get any leads,” he said.
This is the second such incident in Tikmany’s shop. Cash and valuables were stolen from his store around four years ago.
