Members of the Mumbai University management council condemned the attack on controller of examinations Vilas Shinde at their meeting on Friday, but have adjourned the issue for discussion until the next meeting.

Shinde was attacked by members of the Maharashtra Navnirman Vidyarthi Sena and had his face blackened on November 29 because the outfit claimed he had mismanaged exams, in particular an exam paper that had leaked.
"We condemned the attack and will take a decision issue at our next meeting," said a member of the management council who attended the meeting. The management council will next meet on January 6. Three college teachers, in the meantime, entered the third day of their hunger strike at Azad Maidan to protest against Shinde's appointment, claiming he submitted bogus documents when applying for the post.
