Yadav is getting psychiatric help.

“I saw four people die in front of me. A few were crawling to get up. I have five girls to feed and I don’t want to die,” said Yadav, who is one of the nine patients recuperating in ward number 17.

Apart from performing surgeries, doctors are taking care of trauma-stricken patients. “Yadav was in acute depression and is doing better after psychiatric intervention. He mind was more injured than his body,” said Dr TP Lahane, dean, JJ hospital.

JJ hospital has the most number of victims, 24, 11 of whom are critical. “On Friday, we discharged one patient. In the burns ward, six patients are critical,” he said.

Relatives of the injured have been stationed at the hospital since the blasts. Harshad Joshi has not left the corridor outside the Critical Care Unit, where his son, Prashant Joshi, 34, is battling for life.
