Ever since Ratna had been diagnosed with it two years ago, she has been suffering from fits.

She would often get violent when her daughter, Alma Mary, tried to give her the medication prescribed by the doctors.

Ratna had been undergoing treatment for her condition at Sanjeevani Hospital in Virar. Of late she would get fits once every two weeks or so. But, when she did get the attack, she would get unruly for hours together.

The residents of the building had gotten used to the screams and shouts from the Selvaraj residence and would ignore the ruckus considering it to be a frequent problem.

According to the neighbours, Ratna was just like any other person when she was normal. She would converse with everyone and was very polite.

However, the neighbours feared going near her when she suffered an attack as she would turn violent and only her daughter was able to control her.
