A senior police officer told Hindustan Times that the actor’s statement was recorded at the Mumbai police gymkhana a few days ago. He, however, refused to give details of the statement.

The Maharashtra Commission for Protection of Child Rights had asked the police to register a case against the actor observing that he had allegedly used filthy and abusive language in front of children, thereby causing mental suffering.

The police took legal opinion from the advocate general (AG) and were informed that they were not bound to register a case based on the commission’s recommendation.

“The AG said we should carry out an independent investigation and to register an offence only if we find any substance in the allegation,” the officer said.

Khan’s spokesperson refused to comment on the development.

On May 16, 2012, Khan was allegedly involved in a brawl with a security personnel and members of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) at the stadium, after his team Kolkata Knight Riders won a match against Mumbai Indians.

The actor, however, had denied the allegations. He claimed one of the security staff had pushed the children who were with him.

The commission had passed their observation to the police following a complaint lodged by one Amit Maru.
