‘We’ve tried all to trace Vashi local molester’

Almost three months on, the Vashi railway police are yet to trace or identify the accused who had molested a 25-year-old woman in a local train between Nerul and Juinagar railway stations on June 19.

The police say they have tried everything possible, but to no avail. “At first, we took the victim to Nerul railway station on two occasions in the hope that she may be able to help us identify the accused, who couldn’t be spotted. We also deployed two men after the incident at Nerul station in the early hours. We have also questioned several persons who resemble the accused, but they had to be let off as they were not him,” said Baldev Bujbal, senior police inspector of Vashi railway police.

The victim, a resident of Nerul, was molested between Nerul and Juinagar railway stations when she was heading to Thane station, from where she was to board a train for Pune to write the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) national entrance test (NET).
