The police found the body of an unidentified woman in a suitcase on Saturday on the service road parallel to the Western Express Highway near the Hub Mall in Goregaon.

The police found the body of an unidentified woman in a suitcase on Saturday on the service road parallel to the Western Express Highway near the Hub Mall in Goregaon.

The police are trying to identify the woman by checking records of missing persons.

"No documents have been found about her," an official from the Goregaon police station said.

The woman was either strangled or poisoned. The body has been sent for a post-mortem.

Naeem, a mechanic, first saw the suitcase on Friday evening but did not touch it thinking it might belong to someone from the construction site nearby. "When he returned at night he saw the suitcase still lying there," the official said.

Naeem opened the suitcase and was shocked to see the body. He locked it and went to his house in Govandi.

The next morning, Naeem called his employer Lalit Shah and told him about the body.

As bloodstains were found in the suitcase, the police suspect the accused may have dumped the body in which could have resulted in minor injuries.
