Work in coordination with local leaders, state Congress president Manikrao Thakre and chief minister Prithviraj Chavan advised ministers from their party at a meeting held in city on Wednesday.

Thakre stated that local leaders often complain that ministers do not tour the districts under their jurisdiction and go ahead with plans with any consultation with the local leaders. “Meet local leaders to understand issues. People complain that you are not working for them,” said Thakre.
Chavan, who has been holding quite a few tours in the rural areas, supported Thakre and directed the ministers to perform.
Under the present alliance, in a district where Congress has a guardian minister, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has appointed its minister as chief public relations officer of that district and vice versa. The party will hold another meeting on November 12.
