Under pressure for not being able to recover amounts loaned to customers, a 56-year-old bank manager allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a speeding train near Mira Road Station, railway police said today.

V D Narsale, who worked with UCO Bank's Bhayander branch took the extreme step yesterday, they said.
Police recovered a suburban train ticket for Churchgate on him, but no suicide note was found.
According to sources, he was under a lot of mental strain over the recovery of loans and had reportedly discussed the matter with a friend couple of days ago.
As per the statement given by the official's wife, he left the house at about 7 AM to go to the bank branch but never returned.
A case of accidental death had been registered and investigations are on.
