WR, CR fill top post, appoint GM

Both the Western Railway and the Central Railway have appointed General Managers – the top most post had been lying vacant in both for a while.

Mahesh Kumar has taken over as the GM of Western Railway (WR), while Subodh Jain has joined as GM of Central Railway (CR).

Both Kumar and Jain are engineers from the University of Roorkee (Now Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee). Kumar has technical, project and administrative experience in the railways. He has served in several key posts of the Indian Railways. He gained entry into the Guinness Book of World Records for commissioning the Largest Route Relay Interlocking in the world, at the Old Delhi railway station, in the shortest possible time – 36 hours.

Jain has served as executive director Delhi Metro, divisional railway manager, Bhopal, principal chief engineer, CR and chief administrative officer (construction), East Central Railway & Western Railway.

He has also been a part of international projects, through IRCON International Ltd and various technical training programmes, seminars and conferences.
