Boney M not giving up on India

Known for classics such as Rasputin, Daddy Cool and Ma Baker, disco pop band Boney M was set to perform in Delhi recently, when suddenly, the concert was cancelled.

Known for classics such as Rasputin, Daddy Cool and Ma Baker, disco pop band Boney M was set to perform in Delhi recently, when suddenly, the concert was cancelled. Fans lashed out and expressed their disappointment on social media, but they were not the only ones who were sad about this.

"I was very sad when at the last moment, we got word that the event has been cancelled. We were just told that it would not be possible at this time, and that they will try rescheduling the event," says Liz Mitchell, lead singer for Boney M. The organisers also refused to divulge the reason behind the cancellation to us.

"I was reminded of the time when we were set to perform in 1984, and just before boarding the flight, the event was cancelled as the then-Prime Minister of India, Mrs Indira Gandhi, had been assassinated," adds Liz.

The singer says she loves India and will be waiting for a chance to perform in the country soon. For all the fans who were waiting for them, she passes on a message, saying, "It feels wonderful that people, both young and old, listen to our music, and that it still makes an impact. I had never thought that I will be recording for Boney M again, but I just recorded a song for our 40th anniversary album."
