Says American DJ Mux Mool after enthralling the city crowd; also talks about his music and love for Indian food
Brian Lindgren, popularly known as Mux Mool, played his groovy compositions — a mix of eclectic ambient loops and mono-vocal samples — for a crowd of about 200 people on Wednesday. And those seen enjoying the American DJ and electronic artist’s music at One Style Mile, Mehrauli, included model Joey Matthew, Chef Saby, and designer Nandita Basu, among others.
The DJ too, loved the city’s energy. “Delhi crowd was amazing. I had a great time performing here,” he said. Mool, who is known for using social media as a means to spread his music, is in India for a multi-city tour in association with Heineken Green Room, a first time initiative in the country, aimed at promoting unconventional music and artists.
“I’ve been an indoors guy for many years. So interacting online has always been more comfortable. Also, internet let’s you connect with people globally,” he said, adding: “But it can help only till a point.
I’ve toured, met people and displayed my skills live.” So, what’s his mantra of Dj-ing? “Make the girls dance. If you can do that, guys will come, and they will buy your albums,” said Mool, whose favourite DJ currently is Sydney’s Mark Pritchard. Mool expressed his love for Indian food he ate in the city, on Twitter. “Food is incredible.
Srsly all ‘Indian’ food I’ve had before pales in comparison (sic),” he wrote. Talking about the dishes he liked, Mool told us, “I really liked the chicken tikka I ate here. I’m totally game for sampling more ‘true Indian meals’.” And, what about sightseeing? “There’s hardly any time. I’m also performing in Mumbai (today) and Bangalore (on Sunday). But I did manage to see the Qutab Minar. It’s fabulous,” said the DJ, who’s open to working with musicians in India. “I’d love to collaborate with Indian DJs or even Bollywood producers,” said Mool.
