Bollywood playback singer Benny Dayal makes it a point to sing “different kinds” of songs, because he fears he might get typecast. “I don’t want to get stereotyped, so I choose to try something new every time,” he says.
The singer who shot to fame after singing Badtameez Dil in Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani (2013) says that audiences and even his fans were surprised to know that he has sung some popular slow songs as well.
“People just couldn’t believe that I have also sung songs such as Tu Meri Dost Hai (Yuvraaj, 2008) or Rehna Tu (Delhi- 6, 2009). Honestly, that’s the reaction why I want to sing different songs. It gives me a great feeling when I see people’s faces light up to see me singing different types of songs,” says the singer.
“I am always trying to push for something different. As a singer, I want people to know that I can do many things with music. I don’t want to be known as someone who can only sing songs like Bang Bang or Badtameez Dil,” adds Benny who has also sung the title track for an upcoming film starring Ranveer Singh and Vaani Kapoor. The song has been composed by Vishal-Shekhar and Benny loves collaborating with them.

{{/usCountry}}“It’s a known fact that I can sing in Arabic as well. I am well versed with the language, and the song also needed a singer who knew the language. It’s a very different song when you compare it with the work I have done in the past with Vishal and Shekhar. We completed the song in one-and-a-half hours,” he shares.
