India Namaste, Kylie jets in

"Namaste", said Kylie Minogue in accented Hindi when she landed in India on Wednesday night. “She bowed and wished namaste with folded hands to everybody who came in her way… from the plane to the airport [terminal building] to the hotel,” says Deepak Jaswani, MD of Nine Winds Media, the agency that is managing Kylie in India.

The singer, famous for her ‘pert bot’, is in India for a week to shoot a music video for Blue, produced by Shree Ashtavinayak Films. This, says Jaswani, is the one Hindi word she knows.

Kylie’s music video will have her dancing with Akshay Kumar, who has been practising for a week to perfect his moves. Reports say that Blue co-stars Sanjay Dutt and Katrina Kaif will also be in this video.

One of the things that Kylie really wants to do in Mumbai is to visit the sites of the November 26 terror attacks, reveals a unit member on condition of anonymity.

Kylie’s first-day plans were “meeting with the film’s director Anthony D’souza and choreographer Farah Khan, followed by lunch at Akshay’s house”, says Jaswani.

Sonu Niigaam, the male voice in the duet, says, “I like the sensuality in Kylie’s tone. The song is nothing like what you would expect in a duet.” Kylie’s other song in the film is a solo hip-hop, peppy number.
