At a time when the Commonwealth Games (CWG) have become the talking point of the world for all the wrong reasons like poor organisation, hygiene issues and security concerns, singer Kailash Kher has stepped up to infuse some positive vibes into the chaos.
Kher, along with his Kailasa partners Naresh and Paresh Kamath, has composed and sung a song called Yaaron jashn manao, appealing to the people of the nation to celebrate the Games, rather than condemn them.
“I was in Delhi recently and I saw that the entire city had been transformed into a beautiful, colourful and vibrant event,” says Kher, who has lived in Delhi for quite a bit of his life. “New roads and infrastructure have been made to celebrate the CWG, and the city really looked like an international destination to me.
“But there’s only negativity surrounding the Games in spite of a lot of good work put into it. And that’s when I thought I should make a positive song dedicated to the Games.”
Kher asserts that the song is also dedicated to the many talented sportspersons of India participating in the CWG and the singer, who has lived in Delhi for quite a bit of his life, feels that the controversies surrounding the Games haven’t done much for their morale. “Our sportspersons deserve some encouragement from the nation, but they’ve almost been ignored because of the issues,” he says. “So, our song is uptempo and motivational, to lift their spirits and tell them we are behind them.”

{{/usCountry}}The song was supposed to be gifted officially by the trio to Sheila Dixit, the chief minister of Delhi, in a concert on September 25, but rain played spoilsport and the concert had to be postponed. But the song will be available on artistsaloud.com from September 27 for download. Kher and the Kamath brothers will also be performing the song live for a webcert on the website on October 1, and during their CWG concert on October 6 in Delhi.
