American thrash metal band Megadeth has reportedly replaced grunge band Stone Temple Pilots and singer Chester Bennington (of Linkin Park fame) as the headliners for an event in the Capital on February 16. This will be Megadeth’s second visit to the city, after their performance in 2012.
Formed in 1983 by singer-songwriter and guitarist Dave Mustaine after he left heavy metal band Metallica, Megadeth shot to fame with its debut, Killing Is My Business…And Business Is Good. The band is known for its aggressive, politically and socially relevant lyrics.
“The songs are aggressive because that’s just how heavy metal works. We don’t write only about politics and drugs and war. There are a lot of songs that we write and they all have different themes and ideas. We write about things that you see on news channels, but we also write about a lot of other things. There aren’t any common lyrical themes,” Shawn Drover, the drummer of the band, had said earlier.
