Murder had given me a high: Anu Malik

Composer Anu Mallik who was awarded best reality show judge at the Indian Telly Awards recently, will start working on Murder 2 next. Read on for details.

I will be recording the first song for the Murder sequel next week,” says composer Anu Mallik. “Murder’s soundtrack had given me a high. And returning with its sequel is a bigger high. Bhatt saab (director Mahesh Bhatt) has repeated his brief for the score. He wanted a combination of soothing and catchy music last time. This time too, he wants to have some really rocking numbers that are unique but in sync with the current trends.”

Mallik is equally excited about his upcoming tracks in Yamla Pagla Deewana and Toonpur Ka Superhero.“They’re such strikingly different projects. One features the three super Deols and the other has one of the loveliest couples in Bollywood, Ajay Devgn and Kajol. Kids love the tracks in Toonpur and the promos have caught on big time,” he beams.

“Though I have only two songs in Yamla, I’m glad I’ve done something that will feature the ever-so-dashing Dharamji (Dharmendra).”The composer is also on a high after receiving an award for the best reality show judge at the Indian Telly Awards that were announced on Friday evening. “I’ve been on Indian Idol for five seasons. And when they made the announcement that I had won the trophy for judging it superbly, I felt like a true achiever. It has taken so much blood and sweat to unearth talent for every season,” says Mallik.

There is talk that the sixth season of Indian Idol will not go on floors next year. Instead, Sony Entertainment, the channel running the show, plans to remodel X-Factor and bring it on next year. “I, too, have heard that,” says Mallik. “I have no idea if Indian Idol will come back with season six. I haven’t been offered to be on X-Factor either. I can just wish them luck.”
