Now, Khali raps for Bollywood

Dalip Singh Rana, better known as The Great Khali, is all set to make people jam to his tunes. The 7 foot 3 inch hulk, who recently appeared on The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien, has lent his voice to a song in the upcoming film, Rama — The Saviour.

He’s popular around the world for his antics in the wrestling ring, which include beating up wrestling legends like the Big Show and Undertaker. And now, Dalip Singh Rana, better known as The Great Khali, is all set to make people jam to his tunes. The 7 foot 3 inch hulk, who recently appeared on The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien, has lent his voice to a song in the upcoming film, Rama — The Saviour, and also makes an appearance in its music video.

Daring duo
Music composers Siddharth Sharma and Suhas Shetty are the brains behind the song ‘We don’t need tumhara bhaashan’. Elaborates Siddharth, “It was so much fun. You usually can’t make out what Khali says. So making him sing was a huge effort.”

The duo, have also churned out plenty of songs of late for several recent releases including Toss, Yeh Mera India and Chintuji.

For a song in Chintuji, they have even included names of 27 international movie directors, prominent between 1940 and 1950. The experimental song titled ‘Akira Kurosawa’, has latino beats and a salsa feel to it, and is sung by Anushka Manchanda and Earl. Siddharth says, “It’s an item song and a rather comical one. Director Ranjit Kapoor needed a tribal song. We zeroed in on 27 prominent directors and included their names in it.”
