Pussycat Dollies, one of the many tribute bands that exist for the American pop group Pussycat Dolls, performed at the McDowell Signature Indian Derby in the city on Saturday. The five member Manchester-based band has been around for four years and plays covers of the Pussycat Dolls, at concerts around the world.

Anna Slater, a member of the group says, “Their music is played at almost all popular venues. We follow their dance routines and make sure the audience enjoys the show."

Other than covers, the group has also composed two songs, which are so far, only popular in the UK. According to Slater, the similarities between them and the real Pussycat Dolls go far way beyond their singing styles: "We even look a lot like them! We have a lot in common."

Unfortunately, meeting the real Pussycat Dolls remains a dream for the group. “Hopefully one day it will happen,” says Slater.

The quintet's last big event was in Miami, where they performed to a ‘huge audience’. So how does a Brit band get their accent right, in order to ape an American group properly? “We have our own American accents, and hope they go well with the viewers. We have never had complaints so far.”
