Polish pianists pay tribute to Chopin

Two reputed pianists from Warsaw will commemorate Polish composer Fryderyk Chopin's 200th birth anniversary with a recital at the NCPA on Sunday.

Two reputed pianists from Warsaw will commemorate Polish composer Fryderyk Chopin's 200th birth anniversary with a recital at the NCPA on Sunday.

Krzysztof Trzaskowski and Pawel Sobowiec from the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw will play Chopin’s Piano Concerto No 1, Andante Spianato and Grand Polonaise. Pawel Sobowiec, a highly versatile performer, started playing the piano at the age of seven.

His solo repertoire presently includes pieces by Chopin, Haydn, Beethoven, Mozart, Schubert, Schumann, Liszt, Brahms and Prokofiev. Krzysztof Trzaskowski is a competent performer in his own right, having won numerous International competitions across the globe. He has performed for diverse audiences across the world.

The concert conductor is Dr Ernest Hoetzl, hailed as an Austrian ambassador of music. Janusz Bylinski, consul general of Poland, says, “The music that Fryderyk Chopin created was way ahead of times. It still continues to transcend all barriers, enthralling millions across the globe.

On his 200th birth anniversary, we ought to celebrate his work and bring his music to life. This venture would go a long way in using music as a medium to foment exceptional bilateral relations between our countries.”
