Singer-composer Bappi Lahiri who has composed a song for the Hindi version of the English animated film Moana, feels India is becoming a big market for filmmakers in the West. “They want to tap the market, and for that they need people from Bollywood to be a part of their projects,” says Lahiri.
He believes that Hollywood producers take special interest in India and collaborate with Bollywood artists to promote their projects in the country. “There is something magical about such collaborations. After working for so long in the industry, new things like this still excite me and I love being a part of them,” adds Lahiri, who turns 64 today.
In the film, Lahiri has also dubbed for the character of Tamtoa, a giant crab, who loves wearing shiny things. Lahiri has composed the song titled Shona for the same character and says, “He is kind of like me, when it comes to showing love for gold. I fell in love with the character. It’s a very bindaas type of character who is constantly flirting with the lead character of Moana. So I had to think of a peppy number for him. Something that defines his attitude towards life.”

{{/usCountry}}“I am always looking forward to doing new things. This is the first time I’m dubbing for an animated character and I had lot of fun doing that. I am hoping that people will enjoy this avatar of mine and shower their love on me like they have always done. It’s truly a ‘golden’ memory,” he adds.
