Music director Pyarelal, the surviving member of the Laxmikant-Pyarelal composer duo, returns with a concert 25 years after his partner’s demise. The two-hour show organised by Raju Shah, Pyarelal’s family friend, and Manoj Desai, owner of the G-7 multiplex in Bandra, will be held at the Shanmukhananda Hall in Dadar on October 30.

Shah admits that he’s been chasing Pyarelal for the last three to four years to do a show. Laxmikant, Pyarelal and he have been friends for three decades, but every time he tried to pin him down, Pyarelal would escape. “Recently, he had come for one of my concerts and I used that opportunity to invite myself over for tea. The next morning I asked him once again if he’d like to do a show in the 1970s style, and to my surprise he agreed. We’ll be ready in just a few weeks,” beams Shah.

Pyarelal, who has been busy with recordings, will be rehearsing with Kavita Krishnamurthy, Sudesh Bhosle and Suresh Wadkar next week. “He will have three complete rehearsals before the show. He refuses to tell me which songs he’s picked though,” says Shah.
