The Commonwealth Games will rock. Literally. Top rock bands and musicians from across India will perform in the Capital two days prior to the Games.

The Commonwealth Games will rock. Literally. Top rock bands and musicians from across India will perform in the Capital two days prior to the Games. In an initiative by the Delhi government, big names such as Parikrama, Euphoria, Shankar Ehsaan Loy, Them Clones and Indian Ocean will perform at venues such as the Games Village, Central Park and Qutub complex.

“It’s a special moment for our band. The energy at these shows will be different since there will be people from all parts of the world,” says singer Kailash Kher, who, along with his band, Kailasa, will jam at the Qutub complex on October 6. “We’ll also play a special CWG track.”

Bands from Delhi University colleges as well as from various Delhi schools will also perform live at CP’s Central Park everyday. “We want to highlight the upcoming talent of our country to the visitors. There will be acapella, rock bands and orchestra performances by students. We’ll also host kite flying and laser shows regularly and fire works on the last day,” says Rina Ray, cultural secretary, Delhi Government.
