Hard Kaur has a problem with male rappers in India. "These days, everything is about dissing girls without a reason, showing no respect for them and treating them like sex objects. Come on! Is that something to be proud of? One should be ashamed of doing so," says the British Indian rapper and hip-hop singer. Not one to act modest, the 35-year-old claims that she created a space for rappers and hip-hop artistes in the film industry. "Everyone knows I opened doors for rappers like Honey Singh, and Badshah in Bollywood. I've been doing this for 20 years now," says the Glassy and Char Baj Gaye hitmaker.

Hard Kaur adds that most people in India don't understand the genre, not even the artistes themselves. "Hip-hop ka kisi ko zyaada pata nahi hai yahan. People watch two-three songs of artistes like Jazzy B and only notice the cars, girls and bling. Yeh nahi dikhta ki to become a rapper, you need talent and skills. It's not just about stringing a few slangs together to amuse the listeners," she says.
