UK band Klaxons plans world's first 3D-printed tour

Klaxons, a London-based indie rock band, have just announced they will embark on a UK tour in October that is claimed to be a world's first: all the equipment needed for the tour, instruments included, will be created using a 3D printer.

, a London-based indie rock band, have just announced they will embark on a UK tour in October that is claimed to be a world's first: all the equipment needed for the tour, instruments included, will be created using a 3D printer.

Jamie Reynolds, James Righton and Simon Taylor-Davis are Klaxons, a band formed in 2005 and credited with leading the "new rave" genre. They are readying the release of their third album, "Love Frequency," on June 16 (a pre-release album stream is available via The Guardian).

The group has just announced a tour to promote the new album, kicking off in late October and including nine dates across the UK.

But the tour comes with a twist: the band has commissioned SJA 3D Printing in Chelmsford, England to ensure that everything from guitars and microphones to amps and lights will be made using state-of-the-art 3D printing techniques.

Tickets for the tour go on general sale on June 13, while a pre-sale starts June 11 at ticketmaster.co.uk/Klaxons-tickets/artist/1103763.
