“I am very happy and excited with the way the song has been received. People love it so much that there are times when I have to perform it even thrice in a single concert! I must thank Vishal Bhardwaj for giving me this opportunity in his film,” says the husky-voiced singer, who is most remembered for her disco hits from the 1980s such as Koi yahan nache nache… and Hari om hari…

But while concerts keep her busy, she would also like to do her bit for the tsunami victims in Japan. In the wake of the tsunami that hit the Indian subcontinent in 2005, the singer had composed an anthem featuring noted singers from south India such as SP Balasubramaniam and Chitra among others.

“I have always enjoyed working on my independent projects which showcase my creative side. I have never depended on Bollywood songs alone and I’m more than happy with the way my career has shaped up.”
