Pop star Kesha broke down in tears when she performed Lady Gaga’s song about sexual assault, Til It Happens To You at an event honouring the track’s co-writer Diane Warren.

Kesha, who, earlier this year, was denied release from her recording contract with Dr Luke, despite claiming she had been abused by the producer - dedicated her appearance at the Humane Society’s Los Angeles Gala to all victims of abuse and teared up throughout her appearance, reported Femalefirst.

After singing the Oscar-nominated song, which featured in The Hunting Ground, a documentary about sexual assault in American college campuses, the 29-year-old star was seen struggling for breath as she wept while hugging Diane.
