But on the eastern front, where the force guards the Indo-Bangladesh border, it has been smooth sailing. The Border Security Force will now share its medical facilities with personnel of its counterpart Border Guard Bangladesh in far-flung areas where they don’t have access to such amenities.

On September 18, four heavily-armed suicide attackers targeted a forward camp of the army and killed 18 soldiers.

“Home minister Rajnath Singh discussed the working of the BSF on Tuesday. The issue of vulnerability of BSF forward camps was also deliberated,” said a ministry official on the condition of anonymity.

The issue of Comprehensive Integrated Border Management Solutions (CIBMS) using modern and latest technology like acoustic radars, CCTVs and thermal imagers also came up for discussion.

“The force was told to implement a pilot project using CIBMS in Jammu area on priority basis by the end of December,” said the ministry official.
