NEW DELHI: External affairs minister Sushma Swaraj is one of the most active politicians on Twitter and takes to the social media to reach out to help Indians, especially from the diaspora, caught in a crisis.

On Monday, she received an unusual request.
A man, Venkat, wanted the minister’ s help in replacing a defective refrigerator. He tweeted the product number and serial number of the faulty machine. He also tagged Ram Vilas Paswan, Union minister for consumer affairs, food and public distribution, for maximum impact.
Two minutes after his request, Swaraj gave a candid reply.
“Brother I cannot help you in matters of a refrigerator. I am very busy with human beings in distress,” she tweeted.
The response from Swaraj, who reports say is the most followed female world leader with more than five million followers, was re-tweeted at least 5,700 times.
Hours later, Venkat thanked Swaraj despite his failure in getting the faulty piece replaced. He mentioned how her tweeted reply would have made people aware of Samsung’s“disgraceful service and products ”.@ Sushm a Swaraj mam, tq u 4 rply. now at least ppl will be aware of @Samsung_IN disgraceful service and products with ur reply,” he tweeted.
