GUWAHATI: Ten days after the Supreme Court restrained the armed forces from using excessive force even in areas where Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act is in force, the kin of 28 victims of extra-judicial killings in Manipur accused the state government of lying to the court on payment of compensation. The SC in December last year ordered the state government to pay Rs 5 lakh to survivors. Last week, the government told SC that it paid Rs 50,000 more. “We did not receive any compensation,” Kh Lata Devi, a representative of the 28 families, said.
