NEW DELHI: The BJP-led NDA government should not overlook the fact that past attempts to broker peace with Pakistan have been reciprocated with aggression and terror strikes, RSS joint general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale said here on Monday.

While he clarified that the Sangh is not opposed to the government’s engagement with the neighbour, he underlined the need to maintain vigil as Pakistan is administered by the “army generals” and not an elected government.

The ideological mentor of the BJP, the Sangh has in the past spoken about the possibility of an Akhand Bharat (unified India), but wants the Government not to lose sight of the fact that Kargil war and the recent attacks in Pathankot, closely followed India’s overtures for peace.

Describing Pakistan, as a “rogue nation” where “state power buckles under street power” Hosabale, speaking at the launch of journal ‘Pakistan Watch’, said the two nations do not share cultural but civilizational ties.

He said Pakistan is a “nationless state”, which has failed to help it’s people stand on its own feet. “It has only manufactured Taliban terrorists…no other manufacturing takes place there,” he said, taking a swipe at Pakistan.
