NAGPUR The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh on Monday condemned the recent series of attacks on Dalits across the country in the name of protecting cows and echoed Prime Minister Narendra Modi that such attackers should be dealt with firmly.

A section of RSS leaders at the headquarters here, however, felt that the Una and some other such incidents were part of a conspiracy to defame BJP ahead of the Uttar Pradesh elections to polarise Dalit voters against the pro-Hindu party.
Former RSS spokesman MG Vaidya, said that the government should take stern action against those who attacked Dalits in the name of cow protection. “When there is a law against cow slaughter and provision of punishment for such acts, the cow protectors should inform the police about it instead of taking law into their hands,” said Vaidya.
The RSS leader felt that such elements were defaming the Hindu religion and ruled out any association of such so-called cow vigilantes targeting Dalits with the Sangh Parivar. “The government should probe into it and find out those elements’ credentials so that truth is out before the people,” he added.
A senior RSS swayamsevak said harassing Dalits was not only illegal but also an inhuman act. The RSS workers were asked to adopt dalit families and have meals with them. It also launched programmes in the villages like “One well, one temple and one crematorium,” to maintain peace, harmony and brotherhood among rural folk, he said.
