“We know many things are wrong in this country. But our capacity to change things is very limited,” a bench headed by Chief Justice TS Thakur said after an NGO insisted the court to take up the problem of encroachments on roads and pavements across the country.

“Do you think with our directions, everything will be done? Do you think we will pass an order and there will be no corruption in the country? If we direct there should be no murder, will the killings stop? Should we pass an order that there will be ‘Ram Rajya’ in the country? It cannot be like this,” said the bench dismissing the PIL.

The court said it was happy to see that public had faith in the judiciary, but added that it cannot help the NGO clear pavements.
