VARANASI: Union textiles minister Smriti Irani launched two schemes on Sunday to give a fillip to handicrafts. The first scheme — Guru Shishya Parampara — aims to connect the younger generation with traditional crafts. The second, Dastkar Chaupal, looks to better the lot of craftsmen by providing them with an interactive platform where they will be informed about various measures that could be beneficial to them. The event was held at the cultural complex here.
