Home secretary Rajiv Mehrishi and US ambassador to India Richard Verma signed the agreement on Thursday to authorise their respective security agencies to exchange information on suspected terrorists.

Both sides shall provide each other access to terrorism screening information through the designated contact points subject to domestic laws and regulations.

An official spokesperson said the pact would enhance counter-terrorism cooperation between India and USA and ensure that individuals suspected to be terrorists by one side do not travel undetected to the partner country.
