ARARIA: A local reporter of a Hindi daily was kidnapped and thrashed on Sunday by a local contractor, who claims to be a social activist. However, police promptly arrested the accused and sent him to jail. Hemant Kumar Thakur, 25, said on Sunday he was forcibly taken to a hospital by Ekbal Ahmed alias Laddan Hazi on motorcycle. “There, I was thrashed and locked in a room. They also threatened to kill me if I tried to escape,” said Thakur.
