LUCKNOW: BSP chief Mayawati on Thursday flayed the Centre for “misusing public funds” to celebrate two years of the NDA government, saying it should have been used for the welfare of poor and deprived sections of society.

“BJP should remember its bad experience of the ‘India Shining’ campaign. Instead of wasting government funds on these celebrations, it should have spent it on the wider interest and welfare of the people,” she said in a release.

“The celebrations are not only government-sponsored, but one-sided as people are neither excited nor enthusiastic about them,” she added.
