According to the DMRC, only work over one side of the proposed Arthala metro station is yet to take off as it is caught in land availability issues.

As part of the Rs. 2210-crore project, the metro route is slated to have eight stations – Shaheed Nagar, Raj Bagh, Rajendra Nagar, Shyam Park, Mohan Nagar, Arthala, river Hindon and New bus stand.

“Work has begun at all stations barring one side of Arthala station for which land has still not been handed over to us. Construction activity for other stations has started and pillar construction is in advanced stages,” said a DMRC spokesperson.

“Work on the elevated section is in advanced stages. Nearly 330 pillars out of around 400 have been constructed. As an estimate, nearly 45-50% of work for the elevated section is complete. The other works of signal installation, laying of tracks and electrical lines will commence in future,” the spokesperson said..

“Discussions are underway with a private party for handing over their nearly 1,200 square metres of land. The final modalities are being worked out. We expect them to be finalised within 10 days,” said DP Singh, officer on special duty, GDA.

The land purchase from the private party was necessitated as the sales tax department could not hand over their 2,775.43 sqm land near the proposed station. Talks over that land are still pending at the state administration level, but the GDA looked for adjacent land owned by the private party in question to expedite the project.

The metro line is expected to provide relief to a majority of commuters travelling between Ghaziabad city and Dilshad Garden. The GDA also plans to make the Mohan Nagar station a major interchange hub. It plans to extend the Noida Sector 62 line and the Anand Vihar to Vaishali route to Mohan Nagar.
