“We want to kill these men at the same place where they assaulted our women. We want the police to hand them to us and we will punish them. I have just seen a glimpse of the three men ... I want to punish them myself so that the case becomes a deterrent for anyone who thinks of indulging in such acts against women...,” said the uncle of the victim girl.

The uncle also barged into the conference room where IG Sujit Pandey was holding a press conference about the arrest of three accused on Tuesday.

The family had earlier held a press conference in Noida and narrated the entire incident before the media. Later, when their location was revealed, a number of politicians had also arrived at their residence in Ghaziabad and condemned the gruesome incident.

“The incident is shameful. The family is not satisfied with the medical report. I demand that their medical examination be done in Delhi and by a ‘Hindu’ gynaecologist... the police are arresting accused after accused but not taking them in remand... why are the names of the accused changed time and again?” she said.

Three accused, including prime accused Saleem Bawaria, were arrested on Monday night. Earlier, the advocate general had submitted before the Allahabad high court that he would like to find out if the state is willing to hand over the investigation to the CBI.

The high court, taking a suo motu cognizance of the incident, has also asked for the submission of case investigation details and steps taken to avoid such incidents in future.

The IG said 10 highways were identified in the UP, including NH-24, NH-91 and state highway 57, where patrolling, presence of PCR vans, police pickets and CCTV cameras will be stepped up.
