The police said that the suspects abducted Rohilla on June 23, on the pretext of offering him a lift, in an autorickshaw with an intention to rob him. They allegedly killed him and dumped the body on the road after failing to withdraw money through his ATM card, the police said.

“We have arrested Azaad, Wasim, Dilshad, Sonu and Nasir from near the Shipra underpass. Azaad is the mastermind of this gang and drives a shared autorickshaw. On the night of the incident, the victim had approached their autorickshaw for a ride to Delhi,” Dinesh Yadav, superintendent of police, Noida, said.

The police said that Azaad was driving the auto while his accomplices pretended to be passengers to convince Rohilla. As he sat in the autorickshaw, they held him at gunpoint and took his mobile phone and wallet. They got him to reveal the pin number of his ATM card and went to an ATM in Khora area of Ghaziabad to withdraw money, the police said.

During questioning, the accused confessed that they got suspicious of Rohilla as he had given them the wrong ATM pin and attacked him , the police said.

The accused Azad and Wasim were also wanted in a case under the arms act while Nasir was out on bail in a murder case. Senior superintendent of police Dharmendra Singh said he will request the court for a trial of the case in a fast track court.
