The doctors at GTB Hospital in Delhi have performed a surgery on a 16-year-old boy who, along with another minor and a 24-year-old, was tortured allegedly by three men from his locality in Loni, Ghaziabad, on October 12.

On suspicion of a mobile theft, the men had injected petrol in victims’ anal region with syringes used for injecting medicines in cattle.

The doctors said the other victim, a 17-year-old boy, will also have to undergo the surgery, known as diversion colostomy, soon. The two boys were admitted to GTB Hospital in Delhi after the incident came to light on October 12. The 24-year-old was admitted to a private hospital in Loni and recovered a couple of days after treatment, the police said.

“The 16-year-old boy was operated upon and a new opening for passing stool was made on left side of his abdomen. This will remain in place for six weeks before we do a review. The natural opening has wounds and will take time to heal. A diversion colostomy will be performed over the second patient soon. He has more injuries in the anal region,” said a doctor who attended on the boys.

Both minors are under treatment at GTB since October 16 after the local hospitals in Ghaziabad could not stop their condition from deteriorating.

“My brother could not pass stool since the day of the torture. It is horrible to see condition of the boys. Since the day of the incident, I have been attending to him at the hospital. Despite my objections, our mother arrived here to see him and fainted on seeing his condition. She is admitted to a local hospital,” said the brother of the 16-year-old.

Rizwan Qureshi, brother of former Samajwadi Party city president Haji Ehsan Qureshi, and two of his friends have been accused of torturing the boys at Rizwan’s dairy farm after his mobile phone went missing.

Rizwan and others had allegedly picked up several persons from their locality, including the three victims, and brought then to the farm. They were allegedly beaten up first. When they denied having stolen the phone, Rizwan’s and his friends allegedly injected the boys with petrol.

Following the incident, the Ghaziabad police earlier lodged a complaint under lenient sections of the IPC such as voluntary causing hurt and criminal intimidation.

Later, stringent IPC sections for unnatural offences and wrongful confinement were added. Provisions of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act were also added.

Rizwan and Akil were arrested on October 17 while third accused Nadeem surrendered before a court on October 18.

“On one hand, we are worried about the health of the boys while on the other hand, we are also wary about Rizwan and his family. They are influential people and can spend huge amounts to contest court cases. Let us see what we face in future...” said the brother of 17-year-old boy
