Ghaziabad woman’s body dug out of grave, parts severed

The body of a 20-year-old woman was allegedly found dug out of her grave wither her severed head an arm lying a kilometre away.

The body of a 20-year-old woman was allegedly found dug out of her grave on Wednesday morning at a village under Badalpur police station. The severed head and one of the arms of the body buried in a roadside graveyard, were found lying a kilometre away, wrapped in a black cloth.

The family of the deceased said the body was desecrated by some “miscreants who wanted to cause communal tension”.

“The severed parts were found near a Hindu village. This could have resulted in communal tension. However, the locals hushed up the matter and decided to bury the body parts along with the dug out body,” said Abdul Rahim, the woman’s grandfather.

The family said that the woman died on May 14 due to a prolonged illness and her body was buried the next morning.

“On Wednesday morning, some women who were passing by the graveyard saw the body on the ground. We immediately reached there and decided to bury it again, without the head and the arm. Some time later, the villagers found the head and the arm wrapped in a black cloth. We decided not to escalate the matter and buried the recovered parts along with the body,” Rahim said.

“We suspect that the incident was done with some political intent. Animals could not have taken away the parts and ‘wrap them in a piece of cloth’. Even the grave, that was filled up with three feet of soil, was found dug up and pieces of wood used to cover the body were lying outside,” Rahim said.

Senior police officers from Greater Noida said the family has filed a complaint in the matter. “They have not named anyone but requested to find the culprits. We will lodge an FIR and trace the persons behind the gruesome act. We suspect that it could also be a handiwork of some tantrik living in the area. Our teams are investigating the matter,” said Abhishek Yadav, superintendent of police (rural), Gautam Budh Nagar.
