The deceased was identified as Yash Pal Singh. He was posted at Kalkaji and lived in Harpal Enclave under Badal Pur police station.

According to police, Singh went to his room at 11 pm after having dinner. At 1 am, a gun shot was heard from his room. Family members rushed to the room and found Singh lying in a pool of blood. He had shot himself with his service revolver in the head. He was immediately taken to Yashoda Hospital in Ghaziabad but succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Singh is survived by his wife and three children.

“Family members of the deceased informed that he was in depression due to work pressure. He had discussed the issue with his wife. The body has been sent for postmortem. No suicide note was recovered from the spot,” said Manoj Kumar Yadav, inspector at Badalpur police station.
