A phone-snatching bid by two robbers in Sector 62 of Noida was foiled when their would-be victim struggled with them, and the robbers ended up leaving their own phone and motorcycle behind.
According to the would-be victim, Bishal Ghosh, the incident took place around 9pm on Monday near the Model Town underpass on NH-24.
“I was waiting to book a cab after leaving office. Two men on a motorcycle tried to snatch my phone away while I was on a call. They were neither masked nor wearing helmets, however, the number plate of the motorcycle had been blacked out. As soon as they snatched it, I struggled and held onto the motorcycle. After a couple of minutes, the motorcycle lost balanced and the duo fell. I also bruised my knees in the process. By then, passersby had begun taking notice, and both men ran away, leaving behind their own phone and motorcycle,” Ghosh, a product specialist with an MNC in Sector 62, said.
He further said that the police was immediately alerted via the helpline . “But before the police could reach the spot, the accused men had called their phone. They threatened me to hand it over. They called again from an acquaintance’s phone after the police reached the spot. The man said that the two had borrowed his motorcycle. He wasn’t looking for any trouble, but wanted his motorcycle back. A constable asked him to collect it from the police station, but he never showed up,” Ghosh, a resident of Noida extension, said.

The police said that they are on the lookout for the accused men. However, no FIR has been registered yet.
