The alarms are being considered at regular intervals of every five kilometre.

The permissible speed limit for medium motor vehicle on the expressway is 100-km during peek hour. However, a large number of motorists can be seen exceeding the permissible limit that sometimes goes up to 180-km per hour. Over-speeding often results in tyre burst which is a common cause for accidents.

Sometimes, speeding drivers lose control over the vehicle and hit pedestrians or cattle crossing the e-way and also other vehicles.

“I have asked the officials in the authority and traffic police to work in coordination and place an alarm sound device at every five kilometre on the Yamuna Expressway. I have sought a detailed report in this regard including how it can be implemented,” said YEIDA chief executive officer Arun Vir Singh.

Despite tall claim of the city traffic police to have launched traffic awareness drive, over speeding on the Yamuna and Noida Expressway continue to pose danger. This is happening despite CCTV cameras being placed to note vehicle numbers and issue challans through post later.
